With Coachella on the horizon this weekend, we’ve got a fabulous line up of competitions inspired by this summer’s festival, from Glastonbury to Creamfields!
In a perfect world, the biggest day of your life starts bright and early after a fantastic night’s sleep, with the sun shining, birds tweeting and every single thing – from the violinist to the vol-au-vents – arriving on time.
Of course, this isn’t the perfect world and only the very fortunate manage to get through their wedding day without some sort of mishap. But your heels snapping, make-up smudging and speakers breaking doesn’t mean the day is ruined; far from it. In fact, the odd calamity is all part of the (rather stressful) fun.
Summer is almost here and with the much anticipated arrival of the elusive British sunshine comes the overwhelming urge to…book a holiday quick sharp! Poor ol’ Blighty, as soon as it manages to squeeze a little sunshine out of our dull skies, we all pack our bags and head to the Costas.
But who can blame us? With a summer that typically consists of just two scorching days (why are they always in the middle of the week when we’re in work? WHY?), who can blame us for wanting to get away? Whether you’re heading to an exotic beach destination, planning a chic city break, backpacking around the world or escaping to the English countryside, we’ve put together four key looks to get you through your summer holiday in style.
If you’re anything like us, you’re majorly geeking out right now in anticipation of Series 4 of Game of Thrones out next week.
There are so many things to love about the show, from dragons and ice zombies, to razor sharp dialogue and of course a plot with more twists than a bumper sized sack of fusilli pasta (you know, the twisty one).
But it’s the female characters that make it in our opinion. This is not the kind of show where the women just crop up as the love interest. Oh no. These are all incredible characters in their own right and there are too many to even feature in a single blog post. Whoever does the costumes has done an amazing job in dressing these women to befit their roles. So without further ado, let’s take a look at our style homage to the women of Game of Thrones.
Danaenerys Stormborn… Khaleesi… Mother of Dragons… Daenerys is so much of a fan favourite that she’s even inspired a generation of Thrones-loving new mothers to name their baby girls after her. Not to mention a million Pinterest hair braid tutorials. Her style is a mix of Dothraki horse lord leather chic and opulent gifts she has acquired throughout her journey on the other side of the narrow sea. She is beautiful, but deadly, especially in possession of her three dragons. Dracarys!
Aaaand they’re off! With this week’s Grand National at Aintree marking the commencement of racing season, make sure your look gets off to a running start with our guide to Ladies Day style.
Love or hate it, Aprils Fools is one of those days you have to keep your wits about you – just in-case there are any unforeseen & unwanted pranks ahead. We’ll admit it, we’ve been caught out once or twice with the unfortunate fart cushion, or a family member/friend unexpectedly jumping out at you and scaring you half to death – it gets us every time! Not only are we looking out for those keen pranksters close by (co-workers & family alike), we have to be wary of those media hoaxes & ensure we don’t fall for the next ‘big thing’ & then feel totally embarrassed in front of our friends when we realise we fell for that ‘old trick’ again!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we thought we’d pay tribute to the lovely ladies themselves; those amazing women who nurtured us, raised us, and know FAR too much about us. Sure as night follows day, most of us will eventually turn into our mums; a thought that is at first terrifying but eventually quite comforting. Whether you have kids of your own or not, there’s a strong chance that one day you’ll find yourself on dancefloor, doing the hip bump to a song you don’t know the words to, and suddenly realising…‘Oh my god. I AM my mother.’
Here are some more signs that you might be turning into your old dear…
1. Getting tipsy on one glass of wine…and having a terrible hangover the next day

She gave you the gift of life, so you should definitely give her a gift she’ll love. But choosing the perfect gift for your mum on Mother’s Day can be tricky, particularly when your persistently met with ‘Oh it’s fine dear, just get me a nice card’ when you ask if there’s anything in she’d like!
