HOW TO MEASURE FOR THE PERFECT FIT

To ensure the perfect fit, it’s important to measure your calf accurately before buying new boots. Here’s a simple guide to help you measure your calf:

  1. Sit down when you measure your calf. Be sure to measure up the side of your leg - from the floor to the leg/shaft height stated for the boot you wish to order. Using this method, you’ll be able to see if the boot will fit comfortably under the knee and won’t be too high around the back of the knee/crease area whilst sitting down. This will also ensure the measurement is more accurate.
  2. Use a flexible measuring tape to measure the circumference of the widest part of your calf. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.
  3. Repeat the measurement on the other calf to ensure accuracy. Then, use the biggest measurement.
  4. Once you have your calf measurement, you can refer to the boot calf width chart below. This chart will help you determine the appropriate calf width for your boots. Find your foot width and shoe size on the table first. Such as, D Fit (Standard), E Fit (Wide) and EEE Fit (Extra Wide). If you’re not sure on your foot width, please use our handy guide.

CALF SIZE CHART

When it comes to finding the perfect pair of boots, calf width is an important factor to consider. The calf width of a boot refers to the circumference of the widest part of the calf on the leg. This measurement plays a major role in determining the fit and comfort of your boots.

If the calf width on the boot is too narrow, the wearer may be unable to zip the boot up or the boot may feel tight and uncomfortable, making it difficult to move or walk easily. On the other hand, if the calf width is too wide, the boots may be loose, fall down or fail to give you necessary support. That's why understanding and choosing the right calf width is crucial for finding boots that fit well and feel good.

TIPS FOR ENSURING COMFORT AND STYLE

When it comes to wearing boots, comfort and style go hand in hand. Here are some tips to ensure both:

  • Opt for boots with cushioned insoles or padding. This can provide extra comfort and support, whilst offering pressure point relief for your feet.

  • Consider the heel height. Higher heels may put more pressure on your calves, so choose a height that you can comfortably walk in.

  • Don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles and designs. Finding boots that reflect your personal style can boost your overall confidence and satisfaction with your choice of footwear.

  • Remember, comfort and style are equally important when it comes to boots. By considering these tips, you can find boots that are not only guaranteed to fit your calf accurately, but they’re also guaranteed to get you compliments day in, day out.

Q&A WITH OUR FIT EXPERTS

We asked our Simply Be Fit Experts to give you a little more insight into how you can find the perfect boot fit. You can thank us later.

What is calf width?
Your calf width is the circumference of the widest part of the calf on the leg.

Where to measure calf width?
Use a flexible measuring tape to measure the circumference of the widest part of your calf. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.

What size is considered a wide calf?
There’s no one answer to this question. Calves differ between foot widths and foot size, and calf fits differ between brands and retailers. What we have is consistency - the calf fits will always remain consistent for each shoe width and size.

How do you know if you have a wide calf?
Use a flexible measuring tape (make sure the tape isn’t too tight but fits snug!) to measure the circumference of the widest part of your calf. If your calves measure more than 16”, you’ll have the most luck shopping our wide calf styles. Every body is shaped differently - remember that this is just an estimate.

Why do you have 4 different calf width fittings?
We offer up to 4 calf fittings within our boots range because we understand that every body is different. We recognise that calves (just like our bodies) come in different shapes and sizes, and it’s frustrating to find a style of boots you love but realise they wouldn’t fit comfortably. That’s why we provide a range of shoe widths so all women can find the perfect pair that fit.

What calf width is super curvy?
This varies from 468mm to 526mm depending on your shoe size and foot width. Super Curvy is the mid-size calf we offer - we have two calf fits below and one calf fit above Super Curvy.

What’s your most popular calf width?
Our most popular width is Super Curvy!

Are wide fit boots wider on the calf?
They can vary. We grade our calf fits up as we grade our sizes and foot widths up – it’s all in proportion.
